Water Level
As early as 1968, TUNZE®'s first series-built pocket device for measuring conductivity in freshwater aquariums came onto the market. This made it possible to determine and monitor the osmotic balance in the aquarium water, which is absolutely crucial for the successful breeding and care of sensitive aquarium inhabitants.
In the natural biotope, balanced osmotic conditions, i.e. the content of dissolved salts/ions, ensure a species-appropriate development and the preservation of animal and plant communities.
In the 1980s, Norbert Tunze therefore developed the first Osmolator® for aquariums - a precise and reliable water level controller to ensure stable and constant osmotic conditions in every freshwater and seawater biotope. In 1985, the new invention was recognized as a patent after an examination process lasting several years. The inexpensive, automatic level controller ensures, among other things, reliable, maintenance-free surface suction, keeps the water level constant up to 1/10 mm and the osmotic water composition in the aquarium stable. This relieves the stress on animals and plants, which is mainly caused by water evaporation in aquariums.

Just like its predecessor, the Osmolator® 3 is produced from the pump to the sensor in our factory in Penzberg and enables automatic, precise compensation for evaporated water. It reacts to even the smallest level variations from 0.5 mm (0.02”) and its components provide the best functionality for modern aquariums.
